A Colombian actor, dancer, circus artist, director and teacher, based in Berlin. His creations are an entanglement between body-movement, visual arts, objects and traditional circus.
In his work, Raúl explores and examines the body as a desiring organism, which is constantly, caused and mutated by different historical, social, cultural and political events. Tracing the body from Christianity to colonial modernity up to algorithmization.
From these perspectives, his artistic and pedagogical practice focuses in elaborating creatives strategies to search into what is and was invisibilized from the body, bringing afloat hidden speeches and potential narratives.
Raúl´s work is in the quest of legitimating the body as another author, beyond any abstract dualism, pathologization or art category.
As a solo performer he has created different range of performances and events, out-door and in-door, from pure improvisations to set pieces, bringing him to perform in different, garages, bars, streets, alternative spaces and festivals around the world such as: Zürcher Theater Spektakel (CH), Festival Territori (CH), THEALTER 23 (HU), 1st Palestinian Circus Festival, MasQue (Fi), Trakya Kukla Festivali (TK), Festival International de Circo de Bogotá, PlusQ´Il (CH), Festspillene i Nord-Norge, Vårscene Fest (NO), Oxomatil (MX), amongst others.
Raúl has collaborated with different companies, Academics, directors, performers and choreographers, like: David Zambrano, Inés Rojas, Muro de Espuma, Gandini Juggling, Davide Giovanzana, Sophia Rodriguez, the sami Artist Camilla Theresa Karlsen, Richard Weihe, Mathieu Horeau, amongst others.
Currently, he´s a teacher associated at the MA- in Arts of Theater program at Accademia Teatro Dimitri in Switzerland, where he teaches acting, movement research and follow different students projects.
Simultaneously, he develops his upcoming Performance: La Trinität, in collaboration with the philosopher/dramaturg Mathieu Horeau and composer Ariel Schlichter.
